Listening to an amazing 11 y/o girl playing violin @ the “Feed the children, Feed the soul” benefit concert for “snack sacks” put on by Arborlawn UMC
Concert is featuring the FWSO
Last Friday, I happened to notice the large Fort Worth Police Department “Community Operations Center” ‘Bus’ in a nearby parking lot as I was gong to pick up medicine from a nearby CVS.
After completing my errand I decided to head over to see what was going on. I could see one of those large “bouncy house” things – you know the ones that kids go inside and literally bounce of the walls.
I learned that this was an event put on by a small Church that meets in a small building in the small Strip Mall Shopping Center called “God’s Grace Church”. As I understand this is done about every couple of months and on this particular occasion, the Fort Worth Police Department was on hand to provide “ID Cards for the children which include picture, fingerprint, and height/weight. This service is provided through the Police Department’s “SAFE CHILD” Operation.
The officers were wonderful with the children. One officer had one of the small children raise up their little hand as if to take an oath (the same as the officers do when they join the police department) and repeat the following: “I promise to be good” and the child was given his badge (a badge looking sticker).
As I took some time to watch the kids, I could see that they were all seemed to be having a great time
while the parents (and older children) looked through clothes provided by the church for those in need.
